"BUT DELVER US FROM EVIL"

FROM EVIL – THE EVIL ONE.
(evil is live twisted backward)
Question who is it that would twist life out of you?
Lived reversed spells Devil.

“I pray that you would keep them from evil.”
(Our Lord prays Jn.17:15)
“He ever lives to make intercession for us.” (Heb.7:25)

“And fear not them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear HIM which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Mt.10:28)

Our adversary, the devil, satan, the deceiver, a tempter, a liar, an accuser of the brethren; A slanderer, insulter, complains, criticizes, blinds, devours, destroys, kills, a murderer. He tares down, he bites, hinders, harms, hurts. He steals, divides and separates. RECOGNIZE Him!

“You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” (Jn.8:44)

Pilot in the fog illustration: Compass? What is true? (instruments do not lie) Flying on fact or feeling?

“. . . . for the accuser of the brethren is cast down, which accused them day and night.” (Rev.12:10)

A lie lies in your head – the liar attacks your mind (believer); emotion (feeler) and your will (chooser) – your real identity.
Know who you are “IN CHRIST” and whose you are “CHRIST IN YOU”, no matter how you feel you can bank on that and you will land right!

DELIVER US FROM EVIL

JUDE:
Vs.4. ungodly men; 5. fallen angels; 6. filthy dreamers, defile the flesh, hate authority, speak evil of dignitaries; 9. slanderers of angels; 10. speak abusive; 12. shepherds who feed themselves at your expense; 13. raging, foaming, wanderers; 15. ungodly deeds, harsh words; 16. murderers, complainer, lustful, boastful, flatter to their advantage; 18. mockers; 19. sensual, separate themselves. Murmurers, destroyed by the destroyer. (I Cor.10:10)

“Be sober, be diligent because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour; whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.” (I Pet.5:8,9)

“Wherefore we would have come to you, even I Paul, once and again; but satan hindered us.”: (I Thess.2:18)

“For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labor be in vain.” (I Thess.3:5)

“And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil, and satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels with him.” (Rev.12:9)

"DELIVER US FROM EVIL"

“FROM EVIL”

Deliver us. “In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” (II Cor.4:4)

We are accused of “BE”ing less than Christian. Fear of people and failure at times is overwhelming. We are exposed and even embarrassed of not “BE”ing Holy. Overcoming evil is our desire to “BE” like Jesus, (Bread of life) with major mistakes (Bad decisions) sins confessed, forgiven, forsaken, forgotten and receiving His robe of righteousness. “I AM” not afraid to face my Savior, Lord God and Master. “I AM” Holy because He is Holy.” I AM to worship, honor and glorify Him. Praise you “OUR FATHER” for deliverance from the evil one. I AM forgiven of the accusers blame and shame game and I AM not fearful of offenders judgment or gossip. They are not party to “OUR” Masters solutions of Salvation; “BE”ing made righteous. The truth is – sins of forefathers visited upon us, “OUR” sins are removed far to be remembered no more, buried deep where no one can bring them up again to chew on; not by us (regurgitating), satan or anyone else, especially those with false lies (accusations). May we get it in “OUR” mind that, that sin is settled on the cross, hid behind His back, removed as far as the East is from the West. Now we see clearly by the eye salve of His Word, that we are as good as gold, refined in the fire, restored to the original creation, born from above again, “BE”ing conformed into the I AM AGE of His Son. “OUR” white robe. (For a Laodicean last church age Rev.3:18)
I AM Holy because He is Holy, by the “washing of the Word.” Glory to God!

Isaiah old time promises (Chapter 5)
“The Lord will be exalted in judgment and His Holiness in the righteous.”
“Woe to them that call evil good, and good evil; put darkness for light, and light for darkness; bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.”
“Woe to those wise in their own eyes, and think they are right.”

Can you think of culture shock changes calling evil good, and good evil? “________________.”
War, Right to choose, Abortion, Public prayers, Christmas displays, Ten Commandments, Hate speech, Hate Authority, Question Authority, Impeach Authority, Death penalty, Give up personal rights, Civil liberties, Civil disobedience, Judges making law, Intelligent Design, Evolution, Freedom of religion, Freedom from religion, Separation of church and state, Public witnessing, Making converts to Christ, Give your shirt, your seat and walk an extra mile should anyone ask, Taxes, Labor unions, Strike, Equal pay, Partiality, Civil rights, March, Gay rights, Marriage, Privacy rights, “________________.”

Employers rights: (Mt.20:1-16) “Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with my own?” “A laborer is worthy of his hire,” “The servant knows his Masters will. . .”

“Here’s another Message that deserves a second look; ‘eye for eye, tooth for tooth’ is not getting us anywhere. Here’s what Jesus proposes: ‘Don’t hit back, turn your other cheek’ if someone strikes you. If someone asks for the shirt off your back, give him your coat too. If someone wants to take an unfair advantage of you, like giving up your seat, your place in line, use the occasion to practice the servant life, heaping hot coals upon his head. Go an extra mile with him. No more tit for-tat stuff, live generously.” (A Message around Matthew 5:40)

“Evil called good, good called evil?” “Prove what is good, acceptable and perfect with a renewed mind of God’s will.” (Rom.12:2) “Self deception” “Seems to be wise in their little world.” “Become foolish to be wise.” “World’s wisdom doesn’t fool God.” Be careful not to get caught in your own craftiness.” “Lord knows; wise guys thoughts are worthless.” THIMK!” Because of that – let no man glory in men.” Why? “Because everything is yours to do with; the world, life, death, present or future.” “You belong to Christ, and His is God’s.” (I Cor.12:1,2)

Context Romans 13 offers this: “Subject to Authority” “Resist at your own peril.” “Rulers are non-threatening to do-gooders, but a terror to evil.” “Do good, get praise; do evil, be much afraid.” “Ministers Authority comes from God, subjects wrath on evil ‘DO’ers with guilty conscience.” “Pay tribute to whom tribute is due, respect Authority, give honor to whom honor is due.”
“Obey them that rule, submit, for they watch for your souls, as they must give an account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief; for that is unprofitable for you Pray for us; for we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.” (Heb.13:17,18)

"DELIVER US"

“I will not be afraid of what man shall do to me.”

Would you have faith if you were not tested and found deliverance? The ultimate test of faith is death. All other deliverance from evil that tries your faith proves that expectancies are not in vain. You can count on faith being tested or it would mot be faith.

PRINCIPLES OF DELIVERANCE

1. “SUBMIT yourselves to God, RESIST the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)
2. “WALK in the SPIRIT and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh; for flesh lusts against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other, so that you cannot do the thing that you would.” (Gal.5:16,17)
3. “WALK in the LIGHT as He is in the light, and we have fellowship one with the other, and the blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, (continuously) cleanses us from all sin.” (I Jn.1:7)
4. WALK in LOVE” “This is how we KNOW WHAT LOVE IS: JESUS CHRIST LAID DOWN HIS LIFE FOR US, AND WE OUGHT TO LAY DOWN OUR LIVES FOR OUR BROTHERS.” (I Jn.3:16)

“Love seeks not her own.” (I Cor.13:5)
Jesus commands: LOVE

J – Jesus First
O – Others Next
Y – Yourself Last

A. Love God
B. Love neighbors . . . as yourself
a. Do you love yourself?
b. Do you see yourself loved by God?
c. Loving God?
d. Do you see yourself forgiven?

LOVE IN ACTION
How do you express it to others? “As we forgive”?
How do you express it to God? “Hallowed Be”?
Lacking Love . . . . lose – Spirit
Of others . . . . lose – Power
Of Things . . . . lose – Love

FEAR – “The wicked man flees, though no one pursues.”
LOVE – “But the righteous are bold as a lion.” (Pr.28:24)
“The fool has said “No God” they work iniquity, They were in great fear where no fear was.” (Ps.53:1,4,5)

FEAR - What the wicked dreads will overtake him.;
LOVE - What the righteous desire will be granted.” (Pr.10:24)

FEAR opposes FAITH
FLEE opposes LOVE
HIDE opposes OPEN
(Vulnerability)

Spirit of Fear reveals itself in nervous, uncontrolled shaking, speech, tension!
Fear of judgment (flees, hides)
Fear of people (eye contact, touch, communication)
Fear of speech (talk, speak up, confidence)
Fear of places (claustrophobia, heights, aloneness, etc.)
Fear of things (unclean, unlawful, taste, hearing, sight)
Fear of senses (touch, smell, taste, hearing, sight)

“There is a way that seems right to a man; but the end thereof are the ways of death.” )Prov.14:12)

“All the ways of a man is right in his own eyes; but the Lord ponders the hearts.” (Pr.21:2)

“Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.”

Reality check – Greater is He who is IN you. He dwells IN you – Question anyone else.
He is “___________________” , reject anyone else.
Thought of evil is stupid – to dwell insane. Desire truth in the inward parts – whatever is pure, lovely, good repute . . . etc. Dwell on that!
His Spirit fills you, so that you cannot self destruct in the things that you would.
“I will not be afraid of what man shall do to me.”
“The Lord is my strength and My salvation, whom than shall I fear? Whom then shall I be afraid? Because the Lord is the strength of my life.” (Pr.27:1,2)

"BUT"

Can I Really Expect God to Protect Me?Divine promises in the midst of suffering.by Nancy Guthrie
My Bible study group assignment was to read Psalm 91 and express how it had been true in my life.
"He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from the fatal plague. … For he orders his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you with their hands to keep you from striking your foot on a stone." [All Scripture citations from the New Living Translation.]
At first blush it sounds really good, but that day I had to say what I really thought. Through tears I told the group, "I don't get how this is true. He did not rescue us from a fatal plague. He did not keep us from striking our feet on a stone but, in fact, allowed much worse than that."
In the year preceding we had buried my daughter, Hope, who was born with a rare metabolic disorder and had a short and difficult life. At that low point in my grief, I simply wasn't willing to gloss over the nice-sounding verse. I couldn't reconcile this passage with my experience, with reality. But I wanted to. I wanted to figure out how the scriptural promises of protection apply not only to me, but also to anyone who suffers, especially now, the thousands who have endured homelessness, disease, and death in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. I wanted to know, Can I expect God to protect me? And if not, what are these promises of protection in the Bible all about?
Our True EnemyI began in the Psalms, because they are filled with requests for and proclamations of divine protection. Most of them have to do with protection from "my enemies." For example, Psalm 59:9-10 reads, "You are my strength; I wait for you to rescue me, for you, O God, are my place of safety. In his unfailing love, my God will come and help me. He will let me look down in triumph on all my enemies."
Frankly, I have often been confused. Some of the things the biblical writers ask God to do to their enemies, I wouldn't wish on anyone! A sermon I heard on Isaiah finally helped me to make sense of this. Because the children of Israel and their God-appointed leaders were God's chosen people, friends of Israel were friends of God, and enemies of Israel were enemies of God. God's enemies are those who love themselves more than God, those who reject and refuse the gift of God in his Son, Jesus. Throughout the Old Testament story of God dealing with his chosen people, God reveals his power and his will to protect his children from enemies who would seek to do them harm.
So the challenge is to figure out, Who are our enemies? When we think about enemies, we think about bosses who seem out to get us, former spouses who want to ruin us, rivals who want to defeat us, and people who have hurt us. We think of those with ideologies and agendas at cross-purposes with ours. The truth is, we are much more concerned about having God on our side to protect our own interests and reputation than we are about being on God's side, seeking after his glory and ultimate victory.
I figured out that God has not promised to protect me from everyone I might define as my enemy. But he has promised protection from my ultimate enemy—sin—which, because of Christ, no longer has the power to enslave me or determine my eternal destiny. We can entrust ourselves to this just, strong God, who has gone to the lengths of the Cross to protect us from any enemy that seeks to alienate us from himself.
My problem is not so much a lack of protection from God. My more significant problem is that I'm sleeping with the enemy, justifying and enjoying my sin when all along he offers me protection from its damning power.
Different PrioritiesAs I listened to the words of Jesus, my understanding of protection became clearer. Honestly, it wasn't necessarily what I was hoping for.
Imagine the scene as Jesus prepared to send out his disciples in twos for ministry (Matt. 10). Far from a pump-you-up pep talk, he seemed to be preparing them for the worst. "When you are arrested, don't worry about what to say in your defense," he said. "Everyone will hate you because of your allegiance to me," he predicted.
And then he encouraged them not to fear those who wanted to kill them. "They can only kill your body, they cannot touch your soul" (Matt. 10:28). Gee, I think, they can kill only my body? And this should be a relief?
The fact is, God cares more about our spiritual health than our physical health. Our bodies are going to die. Our souls are going to live forever. And God's ability to protect our souls from eternal judgment and eternal death is more significant than his ability to protect our bodies from disease or death. Trapped in these bodies and in this time, it is hard for us to grasp. So in our prayer requests for safe travel and physical health, and in our more desperate prayers amid great difficulties, we try to apply to our bodies his promises of protection for our souls, and we're left disappointed, accusing him of falling down on the job. But we will continue to be disappointed in him until our value system lines up with his, until we value the eternal life of our souls more than the limited life of our mortal bodies, until we understand that God's primary agenda is kingdom building. It may cost us our very lives, and he is okay with that.
Keep Them Safe from the Evil OneWhen we read the prayer Jesus prayed in John 17, a prayer of protection for his disciples, we can't help feeling hopeful. Jesus prayed, "Holy Father, keep them and care for them … keep them safe from the Evil One" (John 17:11b, 15b). Surely God answers the prayers of Jesus with a resounding Yes!
As we listen in on this prayer, we can assume that God heard it and that Jesus always prayed in complete accordance with his Father's will. So we might expect that God's affirmative answer to Jesus' prayer would mean that the disciples never faced any harm, right? But we know that isn't what happened. History records that all but one of the disciples were killed for their allegiance to Christ.
Only John is said to have lived to old age, and he was severely persecuted for the sake of the gospel. Most of the disciples spent years in prison and were stoned, beheaded, or crucified.
So how do we reconcile Jesus' prayer of protection for the disciples with the reality that nearly every one of them died a martyr's death? Is that how God protects those he loves?
Jesus asked his Father to protect the disciples and us from the Evil One because he knows that the Devil wants to destroy us. In fact, according to 1 Peter 5:8, Satan "prowls around like a roaring lion looking for some victim to devour." Satan brings suffering to diminish our faith, he brings temptation to deceive us, and he brings doubt about God's love and goodness to estrange us from God.
But since Jesus prayed for us, asking his Father to protect us from the Evil One, we are not at Satan's mercy. God has answered the prayer of Jesus with a resounding Yes! While Satan may win a battle or two in the life of the believer, he will never win the war against the soul. Jesus has prayed for his own, and we are protected.
Protection from JudgmentCertainly one of the most politically incorrect words in the English language today is judgment. And to say that God will judge sin is considered an old-fashioned scare tactic. But Scripture is clear that judgment for sin is certain and will be terrifying for those who are not protected from it. Paul writes in Romans, "There is going to come a day of judgment when God, the just judge of all the world, will judge all people according to what they have done. … He will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and practice evil deeds" (2:5-6, 8). We would much rather talk about God's love than God's wrath, but isn't it a relief to know that evil in this world will not go unpunished, that justice will be done? At least it's a relief until I look into my own heart and recognize that the evil within me deserves nothing less than judgment.
God knows that you and I need protection from judgment, which is going to fall, flowing out of divine justice. So he sent us a Protector in the form of a vulnerable baby, a Savior who is no less than his own Son. "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him" (John 3:17). As we hide ourselves in the person and work of Jesus, we find shelter from the sure and certain judgment of the last day.
But Jesus is able to protect us from judgment only because there was no protection for him. As Jesus hung on the Cross, he absorbed judgment in our place so that we might be protected from it. "Since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God's judgment" (Rom. 5:9). When I see him there, no longer can I harbor resentment that he hasn't come through for me in the way I have wanted. I realize he has paid the ultimate price so that I might be protected from the judgment I deserve. So can I expect God to protect me, and anyone devastated by a tragedy as big as Katrina? Absolutely! I've come to see that his "protection plan" is more vast and far-reaching than my shallow expectations once defined. I see now that God's promises for protection go much deeper than protecting my body or my agenda or my plan for my life. I can rest easy. I'm protected.

"BUT"

“NOT INTO TEMPTATION”
Not a solicitation to evil, but a test of faith; a difficulty to bear, to do a duty of self-will; a trial or tribulation; troubles at hand.

“Think it not strange as some fiery trial that is come upon you; as though some strange thing happened to you: but rejoice. . .” (I Pet.4:12,13)
(I Cor.3:13) “. . . the fire that tries every work to see what sort it is.”
“Blessed is the man that endures temptation: for when he is tried . . . is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.” (context: James 1:12-14)

“BUT”
Prey (not pray) “BE”ing bait so that others may get hooked on Jesus!
Willing to “BE” used (even bruised like Jesus) for those on a feeding frenzy, to find the way, the truth, and the life of God Our Father that I s found only in the Lord Jesus.

“Thy life I will give you for a PREY in all the places you go.” (Jer.45:5)

Wherever I go, He is there all the time. He is there, “hid with Christ in God.”
Abandon to God! Here I AM, Jesus lead me all the way.

Only to be what He wants me to be,
Every moment of every day,
Yielded completely to Jesus alone,
Every step of this pilgrim way.
Just to be clay in the potters hand,
Ready to do what His Word commands,
Only to be what He wants me to be,
Every moment of every day.

I had a nightmare in the night. There was a large fishing hole going down to hell. People I knew were going down there; I could see the faces of these friends but could not identify them now that I am awake. Their cry for help; I was casting down ropes to them in the hole so they could grab them and I could pull them out of the terrible torment they were struggling in. As they wrapped the rope around their arm, I could lift them out through the help of a pulley mounted on a tri-pod over the hole.
(Where are Joseph and Daniel now that I need them?)
Does this tell me I need to rescue my friends from going to hell?
May I throw out a lifeline to those in agony and strife?
Someone is sinking today. May I be obedient to His call.
Win the lost at any cost!

"NOT INTO TEMPTATION"

“Lead us NOT INTO TEMPTATION, BUT . . . “

“Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” (II Tim.3:12)

Matthew 5:10-13;43-45: Jesus said:
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in Heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
You are the salt of the earth; but if salt loses it flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then god for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”
“You have heard it said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to them those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you. That you may be sons of your Father which is in Heaven: for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.”

Adrian Rogers – Notes*
“Suffer for righteousness sake” (to divide)

“If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you for the Spirit of glory and God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. But let none o you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.” (I Pet.4:14-16) Pursue = persecute
REASON – Lifestyle we show, lies we suffer, Lord we serve.
John 15:19-22: Jesus says:
“If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
Remember the word that I said to you; ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My Word, they would keep yours also.
But all things will they do to you for My names sake. Because they do not know Him who sent Me.
If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.”
“Suffer for righteousness sake”
RESULTS – Personal insults, Physical injury (intimidation), Social injustice
REACT – Reign in life. “Kingdom” living, Rejoice in the Lord. “Reward in Heaven”, Release Love, Treat others as Jesus treats me.
Martyr and Witness (the same Greek word)
Stephen – “Lay not this sin to their charge.”
Jesus – “Father forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”

Airlines file for bankruptcy, G.M. has financial trouble, your company has been sold, your pension is threatened, family business goes up in smoke; you thought you were all set for life and it looks like tragedy has struck your world. All you have counted on is no more. What do you have to say now? How is that big company going to help you now? What do you think of those big shot C.E.O.’s now? Should we have confidence our leaders know what they are doing? Have I been “wise in my own understanding”? Who’s going to help you now? The Government? How is your parachute security plan working for you now?
Wake up dreamer and live. Where you are headed depends who your confidence is in. When you thought you were lost, what did you find? Is there any hope for you?

You are not a Loser when “Strength for today” “Give us this day our daily bread” request is good, real, practical help for NOW!
Do you live in the NOW world? Give us, forgive us, lead us, deliver us; a place of “BE”ing. When faith fails, health threatens your existence; doubts and unbelief are in the picture; who can help you now? Your prayers like crushed spice rises like perfume to Our Father. The aroma of your cry, out of a heart felt need, is a fragrant incense in Heaven when you call out to the Lord. Stored up prayers of the Saints to be poured out vials of tears so Heaven’s Angels can see to the glory of God, how He has rescued you today. We look through a dark pane of glass now, but He sees you from a viewpoint not locked in space and time. Now is ever present with the Lord, and the hosts of Heaven, to welcome you from a now happening. Sweet confession admits a need that He is willing and able to fill, when all else has failed. You can trust Him to direct your path! Our hope, our hope is in you Lord!

"LEAD US"

“O send out your light and your truth! Let them lead me . . . “ (Ps.43:3)
“The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
HE MAKES ME to lie down in green pastures:
HE LEADS ME BESIDE STILL WATERS.
HE RESTORES MY SOUL:
HE LEADS ME in the paths of righteousness for His name sake.
YEA THOUGH I WALK through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for
YOU ARE WITH ME; your rod and staff they comfort me.
YOU PREPARE A TABLE FOR ME in the presence of my enemies:
YOU ANOINT MY HEAD WITH OIL; my cup runs over.
SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY SHALL FOLLOW ME all the days of my life: and
I WILL DWELL in the house of the Lord forever.” (23 Psalm)

“Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will GUIDE YOU into all truth: for He shall no speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and will SHOW YOU things to come.” (Jn.16:13)
“For the Holy Ghost shall TEACH YOU in the same hour what you ought to say.” (Lk.12:12)
“If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanses us from every sin.” (I Jn.1:7)
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid neither be dismayed; for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
“I will never (ever) leave you or forsake you.” “I AM with you always.” “Where tow or more are gathered in My name, I AM their midst.” (counsel – We know you will, Our Father, . . . Be done in us today!)
“But the anointing which you have received of Him abides IN you, and you need not that any man TEACH YOU: but the same anointing TEACHES YOU of all things, and is truth, and in Him is no lie, and even as it has been taught to you, you shall abide IN HIM.” (I Jn.2:27)
“If I take the wings of the morning;
If I go down to the farthest sea;
Even there your hand will LEAD ME,
And in your right hand SECURELY I”LL BE.” (Ps.139:9,10)
I know you were with me way up on that ladder. You gave me confidence from my fear of falling or, at my age, wondering if I was going to have a heart attack. You were with me down under the house in the crawl space. What a comfort to know you are WITH ME, LEADING ME, AND IN YOUR RIGHT HAND SECURELY I’LL BE!

FORGIVEN "LEAD US"

Principles of His Leading. . .

1. “Let the PEACE of God RULE in your heart, to which also you are called in one body; and be thankful.” (Col.3:15)
2. “Let the WORD of God DWELL in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual Songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” (Col3:16)
3. “Wherefore don’t be unwise but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be “BE”ing filled with the Spirit; if we LIVE in the Spirit, let us WALK (conversation, lifestyle) in the Spirit:” (Context: Eph.5:17,18,25)

Be “BE”ing filled with the Spirit.
(Being constantly controlled, consciously possessed)

His possession. . . not legal controls
His Spirit. . . Not human spirit.
Enthusiasm. . . not ecstatic excitement.
God breathed. . . not man breathed.
His Direction. . . not under the circumstances.
His Place. . . not situations.
Experience Him. . . not happenings.
Right or wrong. . . Spiritual or carnal (soulish, fleshy, naturally)
Folks are dumb where I come from,
They had no book nor lernin.
They’re doin what comes naturally.
Pay attention to His leading. . .
Listen to what He is saying. . .
A still small voice. . .
An inner voice. . . (John Wesley)
Doing what He says. . . obedience. (It’s in the Book)
Practice His presence. . .

4. “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby YOU KNOW the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come IN THE FLESH is of God: And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God; and this is the spirit of the anti-Christ, whereof you heard that it should come; and even now already in the world. We are of God: he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God doesn’t hear us. Hereby KNOW WE that we DWELL IN HIM, and HE IN US, because He has given to us His Spirit.” (Context: I Jn.4:1-3,6,13)
I AM IN CHRIST AND CHRSIT IS IN ME. HIS LEAD!

"LEAD US"

“If I take the wings of the morning, If I go to the farthest sea, Even there Your hand will lead me, And in Your right hand securely I’ll be.” (Ps.139:9,10)

“The steps of the godly are directed by the Lord. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will not fall. For the Lord holds them by the hand.” (Ps.37:23,24TLB)

Only to be what He wants me to be,
Every moment of every day.
Yielded completely to Jesus alone,
Every step of this pilgrim way.

Just to be clay in the Potters hand,
Ready to do what His Word commands.
Only to be what He wants me to be,
Every moment of every day.

“LEAD US”. . . His Spirit prompting to do His will.
Given to us this day. . . Forgiven. (I Jn.1:9). . . Debt of trust.

“Come unto me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Mt.11:28)
“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I AM meek and lowly of heart; and you shall find rest unto your souls.” (vs.29)
“For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (vs.30)
“Master, we have no idea where You are going. How do You expect us to know the way?” Jesus says (Jn.14) “I AM the way, the truth and the life; no one gets to the Father except by Me.”

We don’t get in the way, but on the way. His gives peace and rest.

"OUR DEBTORS"

“As We Forgive ‘OUR DEBTORS”
“As we forgive those who trespass against us.”
It’s their sin against us. (Jesus in me)

You thought you heard what I said, but I’m no sure what you heard is what I meant. (A memory misquote perhaps) Billboards put up around town in the early 60’s. Maybe it was something like: “I’m sure you heard what I said but I’m not sure if what you understood is what I meant.”
The large communication Billboard captured attention even in today’s memory. Why was the AD run? Who knows? Relevant today? Only if you are sure you are misunderstood (and misquoted), used, bruised, afflicted, rejected.
Jesus said, “It’s not you they hate, it’s Me.” “A man of sorrows, acquainted with grief.” Knows forgiveness; “BE”ing rejected for a debt of Love, paid in full with His life on a cruel cross was meant to “BE”. What we owe others today is still pay back time. A debt of Love is forgiveness in the midst of “BE”ing misunderstood. You meant it for their good, but their agenda avoids seeing what is meant by it. It’s the “IT” in forgiveness, Your reaction to their action. “Love covers a multitude of sins.” “Love hardly even notices when others do it wrong.”
(Jack Hayford) “Sit down and let it go.”
Let it go – clenched fist – open palms.
We wear our self out - * being angry, * unforgiving, * hanging on.

(R.T. Kendall) TOTAL FORGIVENESS – Introduction
“You must ‘Totally Forgive’ them. Until you totally forgive them you will be in chains. Release them, and you will be released.” Might I add, get over it?
“Faithful are the wounds of a friend.”
“Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.” (Mt.6:12)
“The debt of Love, never stop repaying that.” “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. . .” (Eph.4:30-32)

"Forgive Us As We Forgive Others"

AS WE FORGIVE
Our manner how!
Love in action and attitude.
Forgive the sinner, Their sin. (action, performance)
Forgive the person. (performer, reaction, attitude)
Love separates the sin from the sinner. (person)
Love reacts to acts in forgiveness.
Open Love (Agape’ love shows in action) by doing (vs. feeling or emotion)
Saying “I love you” by our actions and reactions. (attitudes)
Forgiving as we are forgiven -
Not to condemn, nor condone, but to love them, (object of God’s love)
Do we see others as forgivable as God sees them?
“God demonstrates His love for us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him has everlasting life.”
(Jn.3:16)

“Entertaining Angels unawares.”
Simply as God’s messengers. A message for today, this day in time.

Be careful not to dismiss God’s message by a messenger (an Angel) that you may think is not relevant to you or say the things the way you would have imagined them. Hard messages are here just at the right time to prod your faith. Losers can learn to win if they just listen to others who have been tested by failure. Faith changes the mind from things you did not want to hear to desires for the heart of truth. “BE”ing open and vulnerable to change, not to condemn or condone, but to listen to reason.
“Walking in the light.” Rights to wrong opinion is appalling. Socrates answer: “Opinions divorced from knowledge are ugly things.” Mere opinions lose their influence in the light of facts and proofs. The text of the test of faith is in the light of His presence from His Word to you. Don’t miss His shinning Angels.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom than shall I fear?”

FORGIVENESS

“As we forgive those who sin against us”
Our Debtors
"Love hardly notices when others do it wrong."
"Never stop repaying the Debt Of Love."
Forgiving Love – AGAPE – Shows –
1. In Action (something your do regardless of who they are or what they do to you)
2. In Re-Action (our attitude in responding to them) Not getting even. Not repulsive or proud.
The world pays for performance with $ dollar recognition. (production, pay or paid) God’s gifts to the performer is by grace. (Love) FREE! (tetelisti – paid in full)
What is paid in full? Our Sins? Is that how we want to be forgiven like we forgive others or the way Christ has forgiven us?
A bell is not a bell until you ring it.
A song is not a song until you sing it.
Love is not Love until you give it away.
1. “Love God with all your heart.”
2. “Love others as you do yourself.”
1 + 2 = Agape Love.
“Forgive Us as We Forgive Others”

GIVE FORGIVENESS

(I may need You to for-give me)
Forgiving is for-giving (Preston Gillham) Friendship is a two-way street, but not forgiveness. One person can decide to forgive regardless of what the other person decides to do. As a matter of fact, the other person can be dead, but even that shouldn't incapacitate the choice to forgive. While you can’t stop someone from offending you, you can stop how far the offense goes before forgiveness occurs. Every one of us has the ability—and power—to forgive despite the attitude of the one who hurt us. In Isaiah 43 the Father is recounting His disappointments with Israel—which were significant, by the way—and finally states, "I am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake" (v. 25). Did you catch that? He forgives for His own sake. God knew that even though Israel had fallen woefully short of what He intended, flagrantly and brazenly offending Him, it was in His best interest to forgive. God set an example for us, knowing perfectly that harboring anger and hurt would only be a self-inflicting wound. Savoring anger and clinging to hurt, believing that in so doing you are getting even is a deception perpetuated by the enemy. He would like for us to believe that revenge is sweet, and if held onto long enough, justice will be served, we will be vindicated, and our rights reestablished. But that’s baloney! Festering anger eats at your soul, consuming your thoughts, clouding your dreams, and skewing your vision.

"AS WE FORGIVE"

· A good reason to share the Gospel is to loose and bind; or remit or retain.

Responsibility of John 3:36 is “He that Believes on the Son of God, has life. He that believes not, the wrath of God abides on him.”

Hear Jesus’ Words – believes – has everlasting life – no condemnation – is passed from death to life. (Jn.5:24)

When you share the Good News of the Gospel –
1. Christ died for our sin. (according to the scripture)
2. Buried (His death)
3. Rose again (eternal life)
Key To The Kingdom – hear and believe – you can say – “Your sins are forgiven” (remitted, loosed)

Reject the Gospel – they are “dead in trespasses and sins”, they retain their sins (bound) by not accepting the Gospel (forgiveness)

Mark 11: verses
22. Have faith in God
23. Truth is – if you don’t doubt in your heart . . .
24. Whatever you ask in prayer, believe . . .
25. When you are praying, if you hold anything against anyone, FORGIVE HIM, so that your Father in Heaven may FORGIVE YOU your sins.

How would you like to be forgiven like you forgive? How would you like it? To be forgiven? By you?
Do you hold a grudge? Why? Are you as forgiving as our Lord is to you? Why not? Do you forgive yourself? What is it you’ve done in a moment that stills haunts you today? What do you say? I’m sorry, please forgive me.

AS WE FORGIVE
Our manner how!
Love in action and attitude.
Forgive the sinner, Their sin. (action, performance)
Forgive the person. (performer, reaction, attitude)
Love separates the sin from the sinner. (person)
Love reacts to acts in forgiveness.
Open Love (Agape’ love shows in action) by doing (vs. feeling or emotion)
Saying “I love you” by our actions and reactions. (attitudes)

(Jn.3:16)

AS WE FORGIVE
I Corinthians 13 “If I had the gift of . . . .”
Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or rude. Love does not demand it’s own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices when wins out. If you love someone you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him.
. . . . There are three things that remain – faith, hope and love – and the greatest of these is LOVE.” (Living Letters)

"AS WE FORGIVE"?

“AS” we forgive –

Forgiveness: Keys to the Kingdom. (Thy Kingdom Come)
The role of a King – to forgive subjects.
Made to be Kings (a crown)
A crown of life. (James 1:12)
* Stars in your crown
* Treasures in Heaven and in earthen vessels. (Thy Kingdom)

“And I will give unto you the KEYS of the Kingdom of Heaven; and whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven; and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven.” (Mt.16:19; 18:18)

What on earth is bound? (unbelief) “Still in their sins.”
What is loosed is loosed. (forgiveness) “Sins forgiven” Set free, saved.

“When Jesus saw their faith, He said unto the sick of palsy, son the sins be forgiven you. (can we say that too?) But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, why does this man speak blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God only? And immediately when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned within themselves, He said unto them, why reason thee things in your hearts? Whatever is it easier to say to the sick of palsy, your sins are forgiven you; or to say, arise take up your bed and walk? But that YOU may KNOW the Son of man has power on earth TO FORGIVE SINS, (He says to the sick of palsy), I say unto you arise, and take up your bed, and go your way to your house. And immediately he arose, took up his bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, we never saw it in this fashion.” (Mk.2:5-12)

“As We Forgive”
Keys to the Kingdom

“Your sins be forgiven you” (we can say that to believers too.)
“Whosoever sins you remit, they are remitted unto them; and whosesoever sins you retain, they are retained.” (Jn.20:23)

The Pope in Papal descendentcy is not the only one to have authority to forgive sins. No Scriptural basis for this. This was directed, not only to Peter, but to others also that were standing there.

What does it mean?

When the Gospel is shared – and you know that the “Hearer of the Word” (Faith comes by hearing the Word of God) has accepted it; you can say to him, “Your sins are forgiven” based on the Scriptural evidence of that persons confession of faith in Christ. (God said it, I believe it, that settles it for me). However, when the Gospel is clearly rejected, you would have to admit that person still retains his sin, when forgiveness is not accepted.

“He that comes to God, believes that HE IS and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” (Heb.11:6)

"AS WE FORGIVE"

“Forgive Us Our Sins AS WE FORGIVE OTHERS.”
(In the same manner, How?)

“AS we forgive”? (Is that what I’m asking? Asking for forgiveness the same way we forgive others, all the while caught up in the same sin?)

Forgive us our sin as sin has gone out from us to infect our family, our community, our Nation and affects the whole world. There is nothing done alone in secret, if you know all about it. That which is done in the closet, effects everyone, even if it is said or done in private, was consensual, and could not even be mentioned in public. What goes on behind those closed eyelids, thoughts of the heart, exposed in who I AM!

JUST LIKE WE FORGIVE? In the same way we forgive? Our manner, How. Give us the same forgiveness we have for others that you have given to us. May we have your kind of forgiveness. In your forgiving, may we have your forgiveness all the while we are forgiving.

“Be kind one to another, tenderhearted, FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER, even AS GOD, for Christ’s sake has forgiven you.” (Eph.4:32)

Christians are not perfect – just forgiven. (By God – why not by each other?)
“Put on therefore , as elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long suffering, forbearing on another, and FORGIVING EACH OTHER. If any man have a quarrel against any; even AS CHRIST FORGAVE YOU, SO ALSO DO YOU.” (Col.3:12,13)

"OUR SIN"

The Apostle Paul declared, “The law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.” He also stated, “For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin” (Romans 7:12, 14).
Many people have a general awareness of God’s Law as it is expressed in the Ten Commandments, and since they have not murdered anyone or committed adultery, they feel that they have kept the Law as much as is humanly possible. However, we must all admit to telling at least one lie, and James made this statement: “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all” (James 2:10).
So often we acknowledge that we have broken God’s Law, and take refuge in the teaching that Christ came to do away with the Law. However, Jesus said:
“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill” (Matthew 5:17).
There are three primary ways in which Jesus fulfilled God’s Law. First, He fulfilled all the prophecies and analogies in the Law that related to Him. He is the spotless Lamb of God (see John 1:29), and He was “a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief” (Isaiah 53:3).
Second, He perfectly fulfilled all the regulations and requirements of the Law. When the Pharisees accused Jesus of breaking the Sabbath by healing a man, He pointed out a statute in the Law that allowed them to pull an ox out of the ditch on the Sabbath.
Third, He fully satisfied God’s requirement for the penalty of sin. Because man sinned, blood had to be shed: “…Without shedding of blood is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22). The perfect and complete fulfillment of God’s Law has great significance for us.
When a person becomes a believer, he enters into Christ and becomes one with all that Christ did—including the perfect fulfillment of God’s Law. (See Romans 7:4–7.)
Being “in Christ” through salvation means that when He died, we died with Him. When He was buried, we were buried with Him, and when He rose up from the grave, we rose with Him! (See Romans 6:4 and Colossians 2:12.)
Therefore, God’s requirement of holy perfection in order to enter heaven was met by every believer at salvation. We are now perfect in Him. (See Colossians 2:10.) Let us recognize our willful violation of God’s holy Law and affirm or reaffirm our belief in the Lord Jesus Christ and our acceptance of His perfect life, death, and resurrection. Salvation came to the publican when he cried out, “God be merciful to me a sinner” (Luke 18:13). Have you cried out with such a prayer?
Through Christ our Lord, Bill Gothard

"OUR DEBTS"

Sins, transgressions, trespasses

“Our” Debts –
We owe Our Father righteousness. “Hallowed Be”, (Holiness) “Will Done”, “Kingdom Come”. Sin separates us from that.

Sin is: (Bible definition)
1. “All unrighteousness is sin” (I Jn.5:17) (lawlessness, un-right-in-us)
2. “The thought of foolishness is sin.” (Pr.24:9)
3. “An high look and a proud heart, and the plowing (light) of the wicked is sin.” (Pr.21:4) [I, Me, Mine: to justify myself; feeling I have to be right all the time: plowing – push and shove] “O Lord, deliver me from this lust of always vindicating myself.” (St. Augustine)
4. “Whosoever commits sin transgress the law for sin is the transgression of the law.” (I Jn.3:4) [sin of commission] “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 4:10)
5. “He that knows to do good and doesn’t do that, to him it is sin.” (James 4:7) [sin of omission]
6. “For whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” (Rom.14:3) [not risking the outcome on God]

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” (Rom.6:6)

Lord, that sin that so easily besets me, is still very much alive. I must know that, that sin is dead. Help us put to death that thing that lusts against your Holy Spirit in us. May we “recon it dead indeed unto sin” until all that is left is your dear Holy Spirit in us.
Why is this taking so long? I’ve decided that if you dear Lord Jesus died for my sin, so can I! Not just convinced and pretense all is right; but knowing the verdict, that anything that separates us from you has been put away to die.
“I AM crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ lives IN ME.” AMEN! May it be so! (Dad)

Forgive 'US OUR" Sins

What are trespasses?

FORGIVE “US OUR” DEBTS We are not alone in “OUR SIN”

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all un-right-in-us.” (I Jn.1:9)

Forgive ________________ and I the sin of foolishness. I see how I have influenced him with that. He is not at fault or alone in his sin. The world attracts him because that is what I have communicated is important to him.

Forgive ________________ and I the sin of always plowing. Push and shove, having my own way, coming out on top, trying to look good. Pride! Justifying myself. He comes by it honestly as he learned well from me.

Forgive _________________ and I for the lack of faith. Not stepping out and doing what we know is what you would want us to do. It is not her fault that I have not shown her that you are faithful to every task.

Forgive ________________ and I for the lack of Love; Showing that you really do care. I am the one who has set the example of not sharing the gospel with them and perhaps condoning lawlessness by not speaking out on what you have said about that to me. Forgive us, for I am the one responsible.

'US OUR"

FORGIVE “US OUR” SIN

Woman at the well - Your sins be forgiven – (named them)
Woman caught in adultery – Go and sin no more.

“Anyone who is born of God does not continually practice sin.” (I Jn.3:9)

“It is not the lifestyle of the child of God, born again, to live in the pigpen. Quick, get rid of feelings of hatred. Don’t pretend to be good! Be done with dishonesty, jealousy and talking about others behind their backs. Put away all evil, deception, envy and fraud.” (I Pet.2:1-3)

“Plow up the hardness of your hearts. Otherwise the good seed will be wasted among the thorns. Cleanse your minds and hearts not just your bodies.” (Jer.4:3,4 Living Letters)

Every sin begins with the imagination. “Out of the heart, proceeds . . .” Images begin out of the heart. (deep down inside, what we are all about) Question – whose image? We read symbols – images on flat surfaces (just like you are doing right now) letters formed into words out of the imagination. We see in depth and perception images to the brain, feeding the body. We hear sounds, vibrations by cymbals – images to the mind, feeding our soul. “Out of the abundance of the heart . . . the mouth speaks.” Imagination – images out of the heart. Is that who “I AM”? Identity = image – who I AM. Question: again, whose image is it? “Created in God’s image?” “Being conformed to the image of Christ?” Or, __________? : If you are the Son of God . . . ? Is my identity (who I really AM) being questioned? Who is it accusing the brethren, day and night? Is Christ “IN ME”? AM I “IN CHRIST”? Is the accuser greater than that? Let’s not mess up with our own elite ideas. (like filthy rags) our imagination spoils our image of a new creation. Attacks our true identity. Every action, (sinful or not) begins with a thought. (imagine that) Does our heart skip a beat? What makes you blush? Morally? Spiritually? Bodily? Intellectually? Watching and waiting?

“If your heart keeps right, If your heart keeps right.” “No more sadness, no more night.”

All not right? Still protesting? Avoiding Jesus? Rid of God? Pigheaded?
Why is it hard to confess sins to others and ask them to pray with me? Self – Pride (weakness perceived?) Not denial of my sin but hard to admit I AM a sinner, to others (stubborn, stiff necked) who could hold you accountable; to say so. If you doubt it, quit it. Saying :I AM all right with God” with something between you and the Savior.

Is there anyone I can admit my faults to and ask them to pray with me? _____________________ . (JESUS?)

What would be to my benefit if I could be open and vulnerable to another? Could be crucified! Could be held accountable! Could provide forgiveness! Could give God glory!

Why am I so quick to answer my critics? Do I need to answer every accusation? Do they really know me? Like Jesus does?

Lord, why do I feel I have to fix everything? Must I always have an opinion? Must I micro manage everything? Does the minutest detail matter to you, Father?

There is no debt of Love greater than what we owe Christ. There is no moral violation more profound than our obedience. He releases us and we are forgiven. He says, “Follow up after me.” (I Pet.2:23) (Watchman Nee)

“The steps of the godly are directed by the Lord. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will not fall. For the Lord holds them by the hand.” (Ps.37:23,24 TLB)

Sing:
Only to be what He wants me to be, every moment of every day;
Yielded completely to Jesus alone, every step of this pilgrim way.
Just to be clay in the Potters hand, ready to do what His Word commands, Only to be what He wants me to be, every moment of every day!
